ORANGE WALK TOWN, Thurs. Oct. 1, 2015–A Good Samaritan of Orange Walk is presently in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was severely beaten by two men after he intervened to stop the beating of his friend.
The incident occurred Monday night near the fire station in Orange Walk Town. Carlos “Paraquat” Griffith, 28, told police that he and his friend were talking by the Orange Walk Fire Station when two men came up and attacked his friend.
Griffith intervened to stop the beating of his friend, but the men turned on him and began to beat him instead. As a result Griffith suffered injuries to his head, face and body, and the men, believed to be from Belize City, escaped from the area, leaving him, beaten and bloody, on the roadside.
Shortly after, Griffith was taken to the Northern Regional Hospital, where he was treated initially; afterwards, he was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted in a critical condition.
Police are reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the area, and are seeking two men of dark complexion, who were seen beating Griffith.
