BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 11, 2018– The Belize District Primary Schools Football Tournament 2018 is fast winding down. With the Belize District Championship scheduled for Thursday of this week, the Belize City competition has semifinals scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday (postponed from today, Monday); and the City finals are on Wednesday.

Four male quarterfinal games were played on Friday, June 8, at the MCC Grounds, after the top 2 teams from each of 4 groups of 5 had qualified to the playoffs. In game 1, Queen’s Square Anglican dropped St. Martin De Porres, 3-1, with 2 goals from Keedenshaay Bowen and 1 from Tom Thomas; while St. Martin’s goal was by Brandon Smith.  Game 2 saw Ephesus SDA with the 2-1 win over Belize Elementary. Jose Almendarez netted both goals for Ephesus SDA, while Adian Arnold scored for Belize Elementary. Game 3 was another close one, as Unity Presbyterian clipped St. Mary’s Primary, 1-nil, on a goal by Jevon Theus. And it was the same score in game 4, as Hector Reyes’ goal gave Ebenezer Methodist the 1-nil win over St. John Vianney.

The semifinals for both females (F) and males (M) were originally scheduled for today, Monday, but were postponed until tomorrow, Tuesday.

Tuesday, June 12, Semifinals
1:00 p.m. – (F) St. John Vianney vs St. Luke Methodist
1:35 p.m. – (F) St. Ignatius vs Holy Redeemer
2:15 p.m. – (M) Queen’s Square Anglican vs Ephesus SDA
3:05 p.m. – (M) Unity Presbyterian vs Ebenezer Methodist

The Finals are scheduled for Wednesday, with the winners representing the City in the Belize District Finals on

Thursday. The primary schools Nationals are set for next Friday.
