BELIZE CITY, Thurs. June 1, 2017–The Belize Rural North Football Tournament for the Edmund “Clear the Land” Castro Cup 2017 continued on Sunday, May 28, at the Lucky Strike Football Field with knockout semifinal games in both the U-15 and Senior categories of the competition.

In game 1, (U-15) Ladyville Rising Stars and Sandhill Youths ended 1-1 in regulation. Kenroy Allen (22’) gave Ladyville the lead, but Keiron Requena (38’) equalized for Sandhill. They then went straight to penalty kicks, where Ladyville won, 5-4.
In game 2, (U-15) Maskall Youths dropped Face of Belize, 3-2, on 2 goals by Joseph Morales (28’ & 36’) and the other by Trent Humes (42’). For Face of Belize, Bjarn Gabourel (38’ & 54’) got both goals.

Game 3 (Seniors) saw Maskall United beat Boom Arsenal in extra time after they were deadlocked at 2-2 in regulation. Boom took a first half lead with 2 goals from Eugene Henderson (28’ & 51’); but Maskall rebounded in second half with a goal each from Alfred Garnett (50’) and Javier Castillo (81’). Maskall then got 2 more goals in extra time, from Marvin Jones (93’) and Keenan Bennett (98’), for the 4-2 victory.

In game 4 (Seniors) Rookies dropped Lucky Strike Eagles 3-0, on goals by Marquis Stamp (21’) and Louis Acosta (50’ & 82’).

This Sunday will see Game 1 in the best-of-2. Finals series for both U-15, and Seniors at the Sandhill Football Field. The 3rd place games will be played before the Finals Game 2 next week.

3:30 p.m. – (Seniors) Maskall United vs Rookies FC
Music – food – drinks, from 1:00 p.m.
Entrance fee: adults – $3.00; kids – FREE!
