DANGRIGA, Mon. Dec. 18, 2017–The Stann Creek Football Association (SCFA) 1st Division Cup 2017 tournament came to an exciting end yesterday, Sunday, December 17, at the Carl Ramos Stadium, where the third place and championship games were played.

In the match for third place, Silk Grass Strikers and Dangriga Young Footballers Academy (DYFA) ended 2-2 in regulation. Asad Sho (33′) and Collin Fox (51′) shook the net for Silk Grass; while Janard Castillo (1′) and Tremayne Thompson (62′) hit the target for DYFA. This game thus had to go into penalty kicks, where Silk Grass Strikers won, 5-4, to take the third place prize of $1,000.00 plus a team trophy and medals.

In the big championship showdown, it was Bowen & Bowen Land Sharks coming away with the 5-3 victory over Conquerors, with goals from Raymond Ramos (5′), Carl Saravia (34′ & 50′), Alexander Peters (70′) and Aaron Olmedo (85′); while Conquerors’ goals were by Elroy Kuylen, Jr. (1′ & 7′) and Leonard Valdez (25′).

Bowen & Bowen Land Sharks are therefore the Stann Creek Football Association 1st Division Cup 2017 Champions. They won $4,000.00 + a team trophy & medals. Conquerors came in second, and they received $2,000.00 + a team trophy and medals

Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Alexander Peters (Bowen & Bowen Land Sharks)
Most Goals Scored (Regular Season) – Carlos Lino (Bowen & Bowen Land Sharks)
Most Goals Scored (Playoffs) – Leonard Valdez (Conquerors)
Best Defense – Edward Lawrence (Bowen& Bowen Land Sharks)
Best Midfielder – Gilbert Swazo (Conquerors)
Best Coach – Calvin Rosalez – (Bowen & Bowen Land Sharks)
Best Manager – Sergio Moralez (Bowen & Bowen Land Sharks)
Most Disciplined Team Fair Play Award – Ecumenical High School Team
Rookie of the Year – Aidian Nunez (Pomona Warriors)
Best Goalkeeper – Anthony Requena (Silk Grass Strikers)
