A shooting incident over the weekend has resulted in the hospitalization of Herbert Parham, 33, the manager of Buca Shell Service Station, located at Mile 2 1/2 on the Northern Highway.
On Tuesday, November 20, police were called to the service station, where they saw Parham lying on the ground outside, near the back door of the service station.
Parham had been shot twice, once in the right leg and once in the right palm near the thumb.
Parham, the manager at the gas station for 11 years, told police that sometime around 5:40 p.m., he arrived at work, entered the front door and went through the back door to turn on the pumps.
As he was about to go back inside, he saw a fair-complexioned man, slim built and about five feet six inches in height, with a red rag tied over his face.
The man was walking towards him, and he had a gun, said Parham.
Parham attempted to lock the door, but the man fired several times at him.
Sources we spoke with who visited the scene said that the gunman, in all, had fired at least 13 shots at Parham.
Parham’s injuries are classified as serious, since the bullet shattered the bone in his right leg.
According to police, nothing was reported stolen from the gas station, but they found a blue vest, a camouflage jacket, duct tape, school bags, a dorey, and a white four-door Honda Sonata in the area.
Although they had originally detained three suspects who were seen running from the area shortly after the shooting incident, they have been released, because an eyewitness came forward and told police that the men detained had nothing to do with the robbery.
