New Year?s Day is normally reserved to be with family and friends to celebrate the beginning of a new year. However, today it was more like a serious battle to send some of your friends and colleagues on an early vacation out of the RFG Belize Premier Football League playoffs.
Judging by the urgency in which they played, Mango Creek FC rolled into the MCC Grounds needing to win by a margin of four goals. They played a very fast-paced game and at times were running off the field to get the ball back onto the field of play even when it was FC Belize?s possession.
Three days before Christmas, a grieving family is preparing to bury three generations of their own - a grandfather, Alfred Price, who used to be a star guitarist in the Vibrations Band in the 1980?s; his daughter, Primrose Logan; and her unborn child. They all lost their lives after being involved in a terrible traffic accident that occurred shortly before 7:00 last night on the Northern Highway.

On Tuesday evening, December 20, 2005, the company?s receivers, Atlantic Bank and the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), pulled the plug on the operation they claimed had been on life support and needed a prompt rescue operation from the Government.
A jury of 4 men and 8 women deliberated for almost four hours yesterday before returning from the deliberating room shortly before 5:00 p.m. with a not guilty verdict for four men charged for murder, and a not guilty verdict for the charge of manslaughter for two of the accused, who had been on remand at the Hattieville prison since the incident.
We cannot overemphasize the importance of the municipal elections scheduled nationwide for March 1 of 2006. However it happened, and it was for the first time that we know of in this country, general and municipal elections were held on the same day ? March 5, 2003. So even though in 2005 the nation went through the worst turmoil we had experienced since the Heads of Agreement in 1981, March 1 next year will be the first opportunity the voters of Belize have to send some messages to the leaderships of the two major parties.
A few months ago Lord Michael Ashcroft published a book in Great Britain which provided an amount of autobiographical information about him while focusing on the fights Lord Ashcroft had in the middle/late 1990?s and early years of the new century with the prestigious Times newspaper of London and Tony Blair?s Labour Party.

Permit me to express my admiration for what I saw during my journey from Corozal Town to Belmopan on Monday, December 12, 2005. Before I start, let me say that the last time I made this journey was in 1997. Just as how I use my constitutional rights in favour of the poor working class and those of us who are living in poverty, I think I should also give merit and admiration to the progress that I have experienced on my way from the deviation from Orange Walk Town to San Jose del Palmar.
Democracy versus hypocrisy, corruption and lies. Democracy is when the leaders know that they are servants of the people. Hypocrisy is when the leaders think the people are their servants.
Many, many years ago this country was called British Honduras, and we were ruled by the white man, the British. As far as I remember, these white people were very kind to the poor people.
