BELIZE CITY, Wed. Oct. 12, 2016–A Belizean national living in the United States remains wanted in connection with a car title scam that has been ongoing for almost two years.

News reports reveal that Raymond Edwards, age not provided, based his operations in Lancaster, California, where he lived.

He allegedly stole the identities of almost two dozen persons, received high-end vehicles on their credits and used those vehicles as collateral for loans in the range of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Twenty of his victims have already been identified in Ohio, and there are other victims that detectives believe are yet to be identified.

“Mr. Raymond Edwards has stolen the identity of several people not only within the Antelope Valley, but as far as Ohio. He would use their identity to purchase high-end exotic vehicles in the range of $100,000.” said Deputy Miguel Ruiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in an interview with Abc7.com dated September 30, 2016.

Ruiz added that the alleged culprit, “created false titles on those vehicles as if he owned the vehicles, even though there were still loans against those vehicles, and he collected that money.”

According to Ruiz, police searched Edwards’ home, where they reportedly found boxes of incriminating documents which indicated his role in the scam.

However, Edwards was not found, and is at this time in hiding somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area, where police believe his scheme continues.

While one of Edwards’ accomplices has already been nabbed and remains in police custody, those with information which may lead to Edwards’ arrest are advised to contact Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers.
