Three charged for Thomas Henry’s murder

BELMOPAN, Thurs. Jan. 25, 2018 — Late news to Amandala this evening is that Belmopan police have arrested and charged three men for the murder of Thomas Henry and the attempted murder of Kimberly Smith and her brother, Orlando Smith.

The three accused are Tyler Herrera Cruz, 18; Joseph Cadle, 22; and Israel Cadle, 19.

Police said that Joseph Cadle and Tyler Cruz have been charged with Thomas Henry’s murder, while Joseph Cadle is charged with the attempted murder of Kimberly and Orlando Smith.

Joseph Cadle was additionally charged with use of deadly means of harm and wounding of Kimberly Smith; and Israel Cadle was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The men have been detained, pending arraignment at the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.

The arrests took place less than 48 hours after two gunmen went into the Smith family’s yard and opened fire at Orlando Smith, and at the home of Thomas Henry and Kimberly Smith.

Orlando Smith escaped injury, but Kimberly suffered a gunshot wound to her back and Henry was killed.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 Tuesday night in Roaring Creek, Cayo District.
