Belmopan Bandits, the defending champions, held off the DigiCell Belize City Defenders, 85 to 80, at the Mercy Multi Purpose Auditorium in Belize City. DigiCell Belize City Defenders surged to a first quarter lead, 22 to 14, but by the end of the half Belmopan Bandits had taken control of the game, with a 16-point lead, 41 to 25.
Darwin Leslie had a huge 33 points for DigiCell Belize City Defenders, but it was not enough as the Bandits held on to win by 5. Luther da Shane Page pumped in 29 points for the Bandits and pulled down 13 boards.
The home court advantage was not in play for the Orange Walk Running Rebels, as they bowed to Smart Belize Hurricanes, 72 to 53, at the OW Multi Purpose Complex. Running Rebels held Smart Hurricanes close in the first quarter, trailing only by one point, 12 to 11, but Smart steadily pulled away after that, winning by a decisive 19 points. James Ewing and Roger Reneau combined for 27 points for Orange Walk, while Akeem Waters shot 81.8% from 2-point range and ended up with 20 points for the winners.
Four players scored in double figures to help Dangriga Dream Ballers get by a desperate Verdes, 92 to 84, at the Russel Chiste Garcia Auditorium in Dangriga. Daniel Nolberto had the hottest hand, with 19 points, Daniel Conorquie had 17, and Edgar Mitchell and Brandon Flowers added 16 each.
Isaiah Thomas was the big man for Verdes, with 24 points, while Gene Myvett tallied 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
