SAN PEDRO, Ambergris Caye, Belize District, Mon. Feb. 19, 2018– Today, San Pedro electrician, John Cus, 37, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Janelle Villanueva Pennil in the San Pedro Magistrate’s Court to answer to a single charge of rape.
No plea was taken from him and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until April 19.
Last Thursday, a 25-year-old female American tourist visited the San Pedro Police Station and reported that on February 9, at about 4:30 a.m., while she was sleeping at a residence, she was awakened by a push.
That was when she realized that Cus had been raping her. He had entered the room in which she was staying without her knowledge.
When she screamed out for help, he ran away and disappeared until police nabbed him on Friday.
