Hopkins Scramble – Saturday, April 7, & March results

SportsHopkins Scramble - Saturday, April 7, & March results

BELMOPAN, Tues. Apr. 3, 2018– The Belize Amateur Golf Association (BAGA) held its March 2018 monthly tournament at Roaring River Golf Course on Saturday, the 17th. The course was dry and firm, making the course play short. In fact, the course played so short that Paul Martin, the long drive winner, almost got a hole-in-one with his long drive shot. The prevailing dry conditions of late May make for interesting golf when golfers may have to contend with chasms of scorched earth. Congratulations to Sam Mathias and Kev Miller, the winners of the Gross and Net categories, respectively.

Golf results – stroke play:

Without Handicap – 1st Sam Mathias (74); 2nd Bill McKenzie (74); 3rd Tim Heath (78).

With Handicap – 1st Kev Miller (64); 2nd Boris Vostry (65); 3rd Robert Cook (67); Senior – John Sansone (72).

Others:-  Closest to Pin 1 & 10 – John Sansone; Long Drive – Paul Martin; Long Putt 9 & 18 – Kev Miller; Chip ins – Tony Zabaneh; Any 2- None!

The next BAGA golf event is scheduled for Saturday, April 7.  This will be the Hopkins Scramble. The format will be a two-person scramble, pick your own partner. If you do not have a golf partner, but want to play, don’t worry. This scramble pays tribute to Hopkins, long known as the friendliest village in Belize, so you are certain to find a friendly golfer at the golf course.  Play starts at 8:30 a.m.
