GeneralCourt sets date for Belize City Council stay of execution hearing

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Nov. 18, 2019– The Belize City Council was ordered to pay former City Administrator, Candice Miller, almost $400,000 in a wrongful termination lawsuit that Miller brought against the People’s United Party (PUP)-controlled Belize City Council.

The City Council, however, had a 21-day period to file an appeal of the judgment that was handed down by Supreme Court Justice Courtenay Abel.

This morning, attorney William Lindo, Jr., appeared in the Supreme Court of Justice Abel on behalf of the Belize City Council.

Lindo told Amandala that he was under a gag order and could not speak on the matter. He also told us that he was holding brief for the attorneys representing the Belize City Council.
Miller’s attorney, Magali Perdomo, also appeared at the hearing this morning.

The court has set November 26 as the date when it will hear the Belize City Council’s application for a stay of execution in the matter of the court’s award, to Miller in her wrongful termination case that the council is appealing.
