My, the lengths the vocal church is going to, to get support for its agenda to prohibit the use of weed by persons who like to smoke it. The vocal church is pushing for a referendum. The church will pay for this. All of us will pay. The church plays a great role in steering our youth onto the straight and narrow path that leads to heaven. When their dwindling credibility is further diminished, who will measure up to act as guides?
They don’t seem to mind that, they are focused only on winning. If they will win the referendum they will need the rum vote, and the whiskey and beer heads too, and the cigarette smokers, and the gamblers. I don’t see how they will get those votes. Jesus told us to beware of hypocrites. Can a person with one of the other vices pull a no or an abstention on referendum day? Can one live with the guilt of being a hypocrite? If you’re a drinker/gambler/smoker who has the capacity to lie to himself, who has no problem being a hypocrite, you need to think about what the vocals will do if they are successful in the referendum. It’s one thing to be a hypocrite, but to be a sucker too!
Aha, for the moment the vocals have slowed on saying the worst things about rum, whiskey, beer, wine, cheecha, and spuddy. That’s because the vocals have morphed into a total political animal, fully engaged in using all the dirty tricks in the evil world to win their battle. We were taught that the sacrifice must be holy, but throw that out the window, the vocals care not about honor; for them it’s about victory only, by any means necessary. We shouldn’t be surprised. We aren’t living in the age of humble priests; we’re in the age of pastors dreaming about mega riches.
A Roots brother once told me that they like the nice trappings of the world too. My, my, the Western dream, everyone’s living it, except maybe for the church in Russia. They’re gung ho on Putin invading Ukraine, to stop the creeping Western decadence. Getting back into the political lane, will the vocals vow to leave all other vices alone? They will have to, if they will get their vote. Ai, all this drains my little brain. I need some relax time. Please don’t touch my rum and lime, or my green thing.
In Belize we’d call that guy a punk, or we used to
I say, like you don’t know what’s going on in this world anymore. There’s this big American star in what is considered a he-man sport (not our football) who is being sued by a woman because he shared intimate pictures of her with a couple of his acquaintances. I’m not judge and jury on the guy; all we have to go on there is what the woman says, but if this case is a wrong charge there’s still the fact that too many stories of this kind are about.
In the world I grew up in, a man would think a dozen times before he blackmailed a woman. What a big letdown. There weren’t so many cameras around in the world a couple decades past, but I can tell you if there were and a guy got permission to take pics of his girl when she was in the most animal of poses, and then he put her on exhibit to others without her permission, the guys in this country would call that male a punk, unfit to be in the company of men. Hey, I knew the word punk for an unmanly man long before I heard it used for guys who have same-sex relations.
Especially since chivalry is gone out the window, it has to be drilled into young people the importance of knowing as much as they can about who they’re with. Putting aside the intimate thing for pay, a whole other story, it’s easy to understand why a girl would be tempted to do photo shoots with all her clothes off. They won’t be young forever, and with the bodies they have they can make the Pope run and hide in the Papal Apartment. My, all that glory covered up with cloth, glory that won’t last forever! Some try hard to make it last. There are some old stars about who invest everything they have in their bodies, but while they’re on the stage they pray that one in the full bloom of youth doesn’t pass by.
I think young ladies must be warned that if they do such nude pictures one day they will get out, either through malice or accident. You don’t want to give anyone blackmail power over you. People will slip up; life has so many pits and falls, but you don’t want that to happen to you. Ah, guys who have pics of old girlfriends, you can’t be letting down our side that way. It’s not manly to be sharing pics of young ladies who shared their gifts with you. Do that and we’ll call you a punk.
Questioning the level of conscious
At the risk of, ehm, being excommunicated, I say I don’t think that on this matter of weed the vocal local church is operating much above the lowest level of consciousness. Ah, the different levels of consciousness, I learned that from one of my mentors. The way my mentor explained it to me, he said when people disagree it’s because they are looking at a problem or issue on different planes. None of us owning truth, how do we know when we are on the higher or lower rung? One thing is for sure, and that is that time settles matters, IF we give both positions a fair run.
Fidel’s Cuba could have been a good example. His enemies say things are hard financially in that country, so he failed. Fidel’s friends say we must consider the tremendous work done on literacy, higher education, sports, and medicine. His enemies have to concede, can’t utter a peep bad about Fidel there, but they won’t quit. They say we can’t ignore that dissidents get thrown in jail, and there is one-party rule. Fidel’s friends say whoa there, Fidel’s Cuba never got a chance to fire on all cylinders. Bautista’s Cuba did, but when Fidel took over, they got crushed with an embargo.
Bah, that statement about the vocal church operating at a very low level of consciousness in this discussion about weed, I stand by that little smack for all their cherry-picking of the truth to push their agenda. How is it possible for people to make their case using nearly a-century-old information that has been debunked by all but those who refuse to take their blinders off? When I was a young man, I heard someone say that we are living in the Age of Aquarius? Well, on this one, truth is getting crushed.
Not all the churches are living in this warp. There’s a branch that understands that people have a right to smoke, and that smoking weed isn’t the most terrible thing a person can do. They’re on the prohibition boat only as a tool to dissuade its use. They’re still on the hook, though. Those ones need to consider the huge cost when we criminalize people. Some who are criminalized hide between the cracks. The ones who don’t mind criminality become kingpin Capones. When you make a law, you must be daam sure it is necessary. There’s a law against drunk driving. Most everyone agrees with that. There’s a law against taking life. Most everyone agrees with that. There was a law against smoking weed. That didn’t make sense.
