Local police are yet to confirm reports by a Mexican news outlet of the execution of a Belizean in Cancun, Mexico. Quinto Poder reported that on Monday morning around 8:30 a.m., a Belizean man identified as Luis Leiva was ambushed by two men on a motorcycle who shot him dead at his Cancun home in the Villas Del Mar area.

According to reports, Leiva had entered his home, but the gunmen chased him and “riddled him with bullets in the backyard.” The men reportedly fired a total of eight shots.

According to Mexican officials, this is the third time Leiva has been the victim of an armed attack. There was reportedly tension between him and his neighbors, who claimed that he was a hitman, and he was also accused of robbery.

Local media is reporting that the victim is an Orange Walk native.
