BELIZE CITY, Mon. May 27, 2024

For the fourth straight year, the Belize Hurricanes are in the Belize Elite Basketball League (BEBL) finals, after sweeping the Griga Dream Ballers on Friday night, May 24, in the semi-finals best-of-three series.

Throughout the first half, it seemed that Griga would force a decisive game 3 at the Belize City Civic Center, as they ended the half up by two points, 45-43. However, Hurricanes pushed forward and secured the lead going into the fourth and never looked back, securing the win, 90-83.

Victor Evans led the Hurricanes with 24 points and 6 rebounds, with help from Marquise Cunningham who had 13 points, and Glency Lopez with 11 points and 6 assists. Dream Ballers were led in scoring by Delvon Henderson who had a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, Jonathan Guzman who had a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists, and Edgar Mitchell with 15 points and 7 steals.

As Hurricanes were the first team to secure a spot in the finals, they now await the winner between the Belize City Defenders and San Pedro Tiger Sharks.
