The Fenix Academy U-15 boys’ A and B teams and U-18 girls’ team of Chetumal together enjoyed 6 victories in Week 6 of the Ahmadiyya Basketball Tournament which continued with 14 games at the St. John’s College gymnasium on Sunday, March 2.

In Game 1, the Fenix Academy U-18 girls dominated the Backboard Ballers, 19-10, led by Ann Day’s 7 pts and Vida Aragon Lopez’s 4 pts. The Ballers’ Jeniyah Welch and Jamika Benjamin netted 4 pts apiece.

In Game 2, the Toros Academy Under-15 boys from Chetumal prevailed, 53-49, over the U-15 Falcons, led by Jorge Vasquez who struck twice from outside the arc for 12 pts. Andre Meraz shot 9 pts and Luciano Rivero added 8 pts. Falcons’ Winder Ellington struck thrice from outside the circle for 13 pts, and Caelan Meighan followed suit for 13 pts.

In Game 3, the Fenix Academy A team bounced the U-15 Rising Stars, 40-36, led by Diego Sanchez’s 10 pts. Jesus Coot scored 7 pts, Emiliano Juarez added 6 pts, and David Rojas, Matias Tzib and Luis Hernandez netted 4 pts apiece. Stars’ Milton Flores posted 17 pts.

In Game 4, the Fenix Academy B team harvested a 41-32 victory over the City Reapers, led by Dani Hernandez’s 11 pts. Sebastian Quintana put up 7 pts, Evan Alvarez added 6 pts and Santiago Tome – 5 pts. Reapers’ Jahmal Wallace struck 5 times from outside the arc for 19 pts, and Jayden Fortune followed suit for 6 pts.

In Game 5, the Fenix Academy U-18 girls enjoyed a 2nd win, 23-15, over the Sparks, led by Emily Gonzalez’s 8 pts. Cida Aragon Lopez shot 5 pts, and Valerai Diz Poot – 4 pts. Sparks’ Kailee Godfrey and Amayah Nuñez scored 4 pts each, and Jocelyn Zuniga tossed in a bucket.

In Game 6, ABS Hard Rock U-12 boys edged the MVP Ballers, 18-17, led by Khaliya Madrill’s 7 pts; Eduardo Cocom and Brandon Oshan netted 4 pts apiece. Trevan Martinez led the Ballers with 6 pts, and Emil Moreno added 4 pts.

In Game 7, the Fenix Academy B team enjoyed their 2nd win, 43-40, over the Under-15 Falcons, led by Santiago Tome, who struck twice from outside the arc for 21 pts. Dani Hernandez put up 10 pts, and Sebastian Quintana – 4 pts. Falcons’ Winder Ellington top-scored with 23 pts.

In Game 8, the Fenix Academy A team enjoyed their 2nd win, 38-23, over their countrymen of the Toros Academy Under-15 boys, led by Diego Sanchez’s 12 pts. David Rojas put up 8 pts, Emiliano Juarez struck from outside the arc for 6 pts, Liang Chin followed suit for 5 pts. Toros’ Luciano River, Daniel Lizarraga and Hunab Cicerol scored 6 pts each.

In Game 9, the Under-18 Hard Rock boys scorched the Cold Hearts, 61-28, led by Curry Gentle’s 20 pts. Julian Gomez posted 15 pts, and Augustin Pitterson struck from twice outside the arc for 8 pts. Cold Hearts’ Kasey Bowden and Anwar Longsworth shot 7 pts each.

In Game 10, the Under-18 Falcons raked YCB, 64-50, led by Thomas Garcia’s 17 pts. Jahmor Lopez struck thrice from outside the arc for 15 pts, Tadj Pinkard followed suit for 11 pts, and Rajon Alvarez hit 2 treys for 8 pts. YCB’s Dario Cruikshank and Ajare August scored 14 pts each.

In Game 11, the U-22 Mayan Man Warriors dominated the Western Avenue Ballers, 74-48, led by Luis Sosa, Jr.’s 19 pts. Shane Pratt posted 17 pts, Harlem Noralez put up 15 pts, and Leroy Betson – 10 pts. Ballers’ Kentrel Marshall shot 20 pts, and Rhajae Lainfiesta struck twice from outside the arc for 9 pts.

In Game 12, the U-22 Falcons ran rings around the Round The Clock Ballers, 74-31, led by Randy Henry’s 24 pts. Jahzani Lightburn hit a long trey for 13 pts, Daejon Myles and Herbie Moriera added 8 pts apiece.

In Game 13, the U-22 Young Rebels doubled the New Elite, 57-25, led by Brandon Thompson’s 22 pts. Emiliano Villamil posted 12 pts, Jayden Casimiro shot 10 pts, and Marquis Rodriguez – 7 pts. New Elite’s Kamron Gentle scored 13 pts.

In Game 14, the Falcons chilled the U-18 Cold Hearts, 77-6, led by Thomas Garcia’s 31 pts. Deon Bennett struck twice from outside the arc for 15 pts, and Jahmore Lopez posted 13 pts. Cold Hearts’ Anwar Longsworth scored 7 pts.

The tournament continues at the SJC gym on Sunday, March 9.
