BELIZE CITY, Wed. July 9, 2025

This Sunday, July 13, the Yabra Football Club and Belize Social Security Board (SSB) kick off the 3rd Annual Over-40 Health and Wellness Football Tournament at Berger Field.

As stated before, the vision is to promote a healthy lifestyle for our players through exercise and fun activities such as football.

Yabra Football Club would like to thank the community and the fans for your past and future support.

Competition ground rules

There are 4 teams registered in this year’s Over-40 competition. Each team can register a total of 18 players. Registration fee for each team was $200.

The format of the competition will be a double round-robin, so each team will get to play every other team at least twice.

There is no restriction on the number of substitutions the teams can make, as players can be substituted in and out freely. There are 7 players per team on the pitch, 6 players playing “out” and a goalkeeper. Games are played for 35 minutes each half, for a total of 70 minutes per game, with a 10-minute intermission.

After regular season, third and fourth ranked teams play for 3rd place; first and second ranked teams play for the championship.

Cash prizes

The champion team receives $2,000; and the sub-champions or runner-up get $1,000.

Season openers

The action begins at 2:00 p.m. with an exhibition Under-13 match featuring Yabra FC vs Youths All Stars.

Then at 3:00 p.m. the opening match of the Over-40 tournament features Survivors, managed by Bernard “Dubu” Thomas, going up against the 6-times-straight Over-40 champions, Kulture Yabra.

The nightcap Over-40 match kicks off at 4:15 p.m., where last season’s regular season undefeated club, Brown Bombers takes on Plaza United, last season’s sub-champion (runner-up team).

Show Time is this Sunday, July 13.  Be there!
