With due respect, Sir, you should understand that the party you represent in government has not exactly built up a lot of confidence with us citizens, where the UHS guarantee is concerned, where the Social Security Board funds is concerned, where the DFC is concerned, where the Port of Belize sale is concerned, where the sale and re-sale of BTL are concerned, where our oil is concerned, where the extra $30 million of GST is concerned, where the many tax concessions to Ashcroft companies are concerned, where the sellout of our Pound Yard is concerned, where the state of our hurricane shelters is concerned, where the allocations of funds to municipalities for the September celebrations are concerned, where the embarrassment of the $1 million US in Panama is concerned, where our drastically falling international corruption index from #66 to #99 is concerned, where this recent Chiquibul Reserve matter is concerned, should I go on?
Therefore, you must understand, Honorable Godfrey, Sir, that it is only logical and right, to properly and adequately remove any uncertainty about your veracity, and as an appropriate “confidence building measure”, that, as a concerned citizen of Belize, I cannot be satisfied only with your word of mouth testimonial where the intentions for the placement of NEMO supplies in the private warehouse is concerned.
In any dealing where we lack complete confidence in one of the parties involved, Belizeans like to see “black and white”.
Of course, we know that the private warehouse owners should all be aware that, if found to have falsified any records after thorough investigations, they can be held responsible for a serious violation of our laws.
And, since they are bound by contract to withhold certain private information from the general public, it will therefore be left to concerned Belizeans to rely upon the same laws for disclosure in the public interest, to have the details fully disclosed about the transaction involving the storage of NEMO supplies at the private warehouse.
Storage in a private warehouse will automatically cost taxpayers, and we have a right to know how much. After all, the supplies are public properties, right?
We all have a right to build our confidence with “black and white”, that the supplies in storage were really in the name of NEMO.
In this way, Honorable Godfrey, any suspected smirch on your character in this matter can finally be laid to rest. Otherwise, we humble taxpayers will be left wondering if, God forbid, a despicable deed did occur, for which the only honorable thing left would be for you to retire to your esteemed law practice.
If the initiative is not thus taken to clear this matter, then, the weight of doubt and suspicion upon your character will undoubtedly lead to a similar fate for yourself at the polls in a few short months.
The ball is still in your court, Honorable Godfrey. Your first verbal serve was a “net ball”. Your fans are praying for a good second serve, in “black and white”. It’s all about confidence.
