The Anglican Cathedral College (ACC) boys are leading the Central Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) football tournament which kicked off at the Marion Jones Sports Complex last Thursday afternoon, January 16, and continued on Saturday and Wednesday evening, January 18 & 22.

The defending champions, the Gwen Liz boys enjoyed their first win, 5-2, over the 2023 champions Wesley College boys last Thursday, led by Calvin Thurton’s brace (35’ & 70’). Other goals came by Jonathan “Toto” Garay (73’), Damion Vernon (77’) and Ralph Mendoza (88’). Only Jahvyn Clarke (59’) and Tyrese Henry (90’) scored for Wesley.

The Anglican Cathedral College boys enjoyed their first win, 5-2, over the Sadie Vernon Technical High boys, led by Cody Casmiro’s brace (48’ & 53’). Denis Nuñez (32’) had equalized at 1-1 for ACC, and other goals came by Deon Yorke (40’) and Lloyd McKesey (70’). Devon Augustine (11’) struck first for Sadie Vernon, and Nisan Mariano (62’) added a 2nd goal.

The St. John’s College Wildcats also enjoyed a 2-0 win over the Edward P. Yorke High School boys on Saturday afternoon, with a goal each from Daijon Jones and Tristan Matus.

The ACC boys cruised to their 2nd win, 3-0, over Edward P. Yorke on Wednesday evening, with goals by Raidon Alvarez (25’), Lloyd McKesey (42’) and Alex Aguilar (85’).
