BECOL telling lies again?

LettersBECOL telling lies again?

Dear Editor,

For some weeks now, we have been impressed by the fact that we have not found a cigarette ad within your folds. Spending more money on cigarettes in the hope of winning food does not put food on the table now and most likely never does. Unless it’s on the tables of those advertising the “offer”.

Now we get to BECOL. They have now had two adverts in the Reporter that have not appeared in the Amandala. This latest one blatantly states  “Chalillo Hydroelectric Facility Averts Major Flood Event”.

To support this statement, they show a photograph of the San Ignacio market taken during last year’s flood and state that this shows “San Ignacio Market under water before Chalillo”.

Any Cayo resident can tell you that those market buildings were not there before Chalillo. They are new. Once again we see that Chalillo is a lie.

The new market buildings are in the background of the photo, partially under water from last October’s flood (2008).      They were built with European money and some from the twin towns, although former Prime Minister Said Musa claimed central government gave some money.

The market was opened since the UDP got in. Chalillo came on line probably 2005.

Yours sincerely
