As customary the Bulldogs got out of the gates slowly as the visitors, although undermanned, showed poise and determination. Behind the slashing ability of Kelvin Gillett (20 points) and the quickness of small forward Sheldon Williams (19 points 13 rebounds), the Eagles were able to pull to within one point of the Bulldogs at the half, 40-39. However in the third quarter, with a tenacious full court defense, something that has become a Bulldog hallmark and something that Bulldogs fans have become accustomed to see, the Bulldogs suffocated the Eagles, causing numerous turnovers and outscoring them 28-19 in the third quarter, which ended with the Bulldogs enjoying a 68-58 lead. The fourth quarter was basically a mopping up quarter for the home boys as the visitors were once again outscored, this time 29-19, as they fell by the score of 97-77, in a game which saw all Bulldogs who suited up for the game, scoring. The Bulldogs, who are now (6-3) and who have a lock on the #2 seed heading into the playoffs, pending the outcome of the game against Corozal next Saturday on the road, once again had 5 players in double figures. Earl ?Bolo? Johnson led the way with 18 points 14 rebounds, followed by Darwin ?Puppy? Leslie 16 points 6 rebounds, Aubrey Lopez 15 points 8 rebounds, Ronald Rivers 13 points and Eric Cheers 10 points. Bart Sanchez, who had a sub par night scoring (8 points), on the upswing had 10 assists. The Bulldogs, who lead the league in scoring with over 80 ppg, will have this week off as they begin preparations for their final regular season game scheduled for next week at Corozal. The Eagles, for their part, will once again visit the City Center tonight, this time against the BTL Nets who, according to our sources, will be without the services of their franchise player, Kurt Burgess, for the rest of the season due to an injury that he suffered during the San Pedro game played about two weeks ago.
