BELIZE CITY, Mon. Aug. 7, 2023

The Belize City Council’s Back-To-School Edition Super Sale, held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, drew a sizable turnout of eager shoppers looking for deals on school supplies and more. The Super Sale initiative, which aims to promote local businesses and revitalize downtown Belize City, had the participation of an estimated 150 businesses, offering a wide range of products and services.

Staple back-to-school stores, including The Angelus Press Ltd, A & R Enterprise Ltd., Golden Bay Co. Ltd., Uniform Stop, and Fultec Systems, were among the participants, offering discounts on school essentials. Financial institutions such as Belize Bank Ltd. and Atlantic Bank Ltd., along with Courts Ready Cash, actively took part in the event, providing exclusive back-to-school loan offers to assist families in preparing for the upcoming academic year.

The Super Sale has been an event hosted multiple times a year under different themes since its inception in 2018, under the guidance of Mayor Bernard Wagner. Amandala spoke to Ms. Erin Garnett, Communications Manager for the Belize City Council, who said, “The initiative keeps growing, and our team continues to work to improve it as we expand. We are always excited to witness the overwhelming support from both businesses and shoppers. This event has seen significant growth since we started off with about 20 businesses, and the council looks forward to further connecting vendors and consumers in an inclusive, family-friendly environment.”

Over the years, the Super Sale has become a platform for local vendors, showcasing various foods, drinks, crafts, clothing, appliances, and more. The event’s diverse offerings have cemented its popularity among the community while highlighting the importance of supporting local entrepreneurs.

“The Back-To-School Edition of the Super Sale not only empowers businesses but also empowers families by providing cost-effective options for their back-to-school needs. By encouraging shoppers to buy locally, we are fostering a stronger and more resilient Belize City economy,” added Ms. Garnett. Despite a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the recent Back-To-School Edition marked the fifteenth installment of the Super Sale event.

After their upcoming Summer Festival: A Night of Culture event in the Freetown constituency to be held on August 19, 2023, the Belize City Council is gearing up for the Anniversary Edition Super Sale in October 2023, which promises to be another celebration of local entrepreneurship and community support.
