SportsBELIZE CITY COUNCIL REMAINS PERFECT (7-0) ADVANCES TO FINAL FOUR
Belize City Council remained undefeated in interoffice basketball, as they were able to knock off Atlantic Bank Ltd. by the score of 62-53 in their quarterfinal match-up played Wednesday night at the City Center. As a result, they are now headed to the 2007 Final Four. Team captain Bernardo Bennett continues to provide steady and heady play for the City Council team; however, on this night it was the Kenroy Usher and Rodney Lord show, as they were both able to score 15 pts each in the win. While for Atlantic Bank it was Keith Sutherland leading the way with 14 pts, followed by Andrew Staine with 10 pts.

In the other quarterfinal match-up played between Belize Telemedia and KHMH, it was BTL all over KHMH by the score of 74-55, behind the fine play of Devon Lozano and Edward Thompson, 18 pts each. KHMH, who are now eliminated from play, were led by Neil Nicholson 15 pts and Francis Lemott 10 pts.

In the other two-quarter final games played on Monday night at the City Center, defending champs Tuff E Nuff are headed back to the semifinals, as they won easily over Aero Dispatch by the score of 59-39. Samuel Martinez and Keith “Dos” Pollard had 14 pts each in the win; while for Aero Dispatch, Myron Flowers, the league-leading scorer, could only muster 13 pts, followed by Emet Avila with 9 pts.

In game two, Home Protector/Brodies disposed of Customs by the score of 64-53 behind Keith James 14 pts and Albert Zelaya, Carlton Humes, and Kevin Flowers, 10 pts each. Meanwhile, for Customs, who will now have to wait until next year, it was James “Tanga” Saunders with 15 pts, followed by Wilfred “Chicki Blue” Nicholas with 11 pts.

This sets up a huge semifinal round match-up scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the City Center, when the defending champs Tuff E Nuff take on Home Protector/Brodies, and the undefeated Belize City Council goes up against Belize Telemedia.
