The tournament, according to promoter, Mr. Jerome ?Comegys? Williams is scheduled to kick-off Friday night at the City Center at 8:00 p.m., when Belize will open against ?Uady? of Merida. Game resumes on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. when ?Hurricanes De LaSalle? takes on the winner of the Friday night match up.
According to Williams, the girls will then break for lunch with action scheduled to resume at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday with the loser of the Friday night game taking on the loser of the Saturday morning game. Following this game, one team would have been eliminated.
Game 1 of the championship series will then be played on Saturday night and, if necessary, Game 2 on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.
The national selection is being coached by well-known semi-pro superstar, Keith Acosta, and he will be assisted by Kirk ?Shabba? Smith. While Belize?s ?Big Three? of Enid Dakers, Tracey Garnett and Shelmadine Cacho will be asked to carry the load, in our opinion for the team to enjoy any kind of success, it will definitely need contributions from the other players, which include Kylie Rivers, Earlett Reynolds, Lisa Sanchez, Tiffara Swift, Lacey Rosales, Anna Thurton, Melonie Tasher, Denise Street and Sylvia Clarke. Sylvia, by the way, will be making her long awaited return to competitive ball.
From the desk, we wish the girls well and we urge Belizeans to go out and support our female ballers. Long live Belize!!!!
