Camalote store owner shot during robbery attempt

GeneralCamalote store owner shot during robbery attempt

CAMALOTE, Cayo District, Wed. July 15, 2020– Nigel Gideon, a store owner, is recovering at the Western Regional Hospital after he was shot in his hip during a struggle with a robber at his store in Camalote yesterday. The robber then escaped empty-handed.

Luckily, the injury was not life-threatening, and Gideon was rushed to the hospital, where he was admitted in a serious but stable condition.

Gideon told police that while he was in his store in Camalote yesterday afternoon, a man of Hispanic descent who was wearing a mask came in and said that he wanted to buy some cigarettes.

Gideon said that, as he was about to reply, the man took out a gun and demanded money, but he quickly grabbed the robber and a struggle for the gun, a .38 Special Revolver, ensued.

It was during the struggle that the gun discharged.

Police searched the area, but could not find the would-be thief.
