COROZAL TOWN, Corozal District, Tues. July 14, 2020– Rayford Anderson, 32, a musician of Corozal Town, who was detained by police on Thursday after a complaint was made about his conduct during a domestic dispute, was found hanging in the cell where he was being detained at about 11:00 that same Thursday night.
He was found hanging from the cell bar by strips of a sheet that was tied around his neck. Anderson was rushed to the Corozal Town Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
Foul play was ruled out, and suicide was declared to be the cause of his death. An internal investigation has been launched, nevertheless, to see if anything could have been done to prevent his demise.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett said during a police press brief today that when Anderson was detained on Thursday, all protocols were followed in regards to his lockdown.
