DANGRIGA TOWN, Stann Creek District, Thurs. Mar. 27, 2025
Danrgiga resident Devin Parchue, 30, charged with the murder of Ronald “Pungas” Gill, was found guilty of the charge today by Justice Antoinette Moore in the High Court in Dangriga. Justice Moore has reserved sentencing for a date to be announced.
Gill, a songwriter, artist and performer who worked at the Heights of Vibes Studio, was killed on July 23, 2022. He left his home in the Lakeland area of Dangriga and went to buy food at a restaurant, located on George Price Drive in Dangriga, where he met Parchue, and an argument ensued between the men that led to a physical confrontation. During the altercation, Parchue pulled out a knife and stabbed Gill multiple times in his body. Gill fell to the ground, and he died on the spot.
Parchue fled from the scene and was not arrested until almost a month later.
At the trial, which was judge-alone, the Crown, represented by Assistant Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Javier Chan, called several witnesses, eyewitnesses among them.
Parchue did not testify. He gave a statement from the dock in which he claimed that it was a case of self-defense.
But the evidence against Parchue was overwhelming and he was found guilty.
Parchue was represented by attorney Ivan Williams.
