Wife and mother of five children, Maria Ochoa, 36, is today under great stress, as she anxiously awaits the return of her husband of 17 years, Edgar David Gonzalez, 47, who went missing on Sunday, August 8, 2010.
According to Ochoa, Gonzalez, a watchman at BWEL Gas Company in Belmopan City, had left home that evening at around 4:00, informing her that he would head to work.
Upon reaching the gas company, Ochoa says Gonzalez signed the attendance register, but never made it back home, as it was expected of him.
Now, almost three weeks after reporting Gonzalez as missing, she fears that something tragic has happened to him, and more worried, as Ochoa told us this evening is that school is about to open and the children are not prepared because they lack text books, uniforms and school supplies.
Ochoa also said that this is the first time Gonzalez has gone missing, and that she does not believe he purposely disappeared.
To alleviate her situation, Ochoa says that she is receiving assistance from the sisters of the Local Seventh Day Adventist Church in Santa Elena Town, Cayo District. The sisters, according to her, have been helping with meals, but yet Ochoa says it has been difficult without the support of Gonzalez, and she is in dire need of assistance.
One of the last reports is that she has run out of butane gas for cooking, and has a suckling baby to take care of.
Gonzalez was last seen wearing a black and white checkered shirt, long brown pants and a pair of brown leather shoes.
Anyone who knows or hears about Gonzalez’s whereabouts is asked to call the police or contact Ochoa at 628-5856.
