DANGRIGA, Thurs. Apr. 2, 2020 — A house was completely destroyed by fire at about 1:30 this morning and another house in its close proximity suffered minor damages on its side. As a result, the house and all its contents were destroyed, and one person was left homeless.
Information to us is that at about 1:30 this morning, the neighbors were sleeping when they were awakened by heat and smoke, and saw a house burning. The firemen were called, but by the time they came, the house already was engulfed in flames. They sprayed the house owned by the Miranda family, preventing further damage, and so they confined the fire.
A neighbor told us that at the time, an elderly woman and her son were sleeping in the Miranda family house, and a window was kicked out, through which they were taken out to safety.
The caretaker of the destroyed house was a man known as Mack, but he was not in the house at the time.
The Dangriga Fire Service has begun an investigation into the cause of the fire.
