Raymond Whitfield Jones, 59, a former Gilharry 7 band member, was found dead in a crouching position beside a cement fence after he fell while drinking.

COROZAL, Tues. Aug. 2, 2022

The former trumpet player of the Gilharry 7 band, Raymond Whitfield Jones, 59, also known as “Lion,” was found motionless in a crouching position beside a cement fence on 5th Avenue in Corozal Town after he fell while allegedly drinking.

According to initial police reports, at about 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, Jones was drinking with a companion of his while seated on a fence when he lost his balance and fell backward and landed on the ground, where he seemingly lost consciousness.

Jones was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are investigating.
