The owner of the establishment, Chen Can Jin, 22, a Chinese businessman, reported to police that while he was inside the restaurant, two male persons, one of whom was armed with a sawed-off shotgun, robbed him of $200BZ and BTL phone cards worth $100. The men then fled.


In connection with the incident that occurred at the restaurant, Hill received three years for aggravated assault.


On Tuesday, March 22, businessman Luis Rosado, 36, reported to police that around 9:00 p.m., while he was at his store, Lilianie?s Grocery Shop, located in the Altamira area, in the presence of his employee, four masked gunmen entered the establishment.


According to Rosado, the men robbed him of $1,000 and then fled.


Hill, Massam and one of two minors that were involved in the robbery received seven years for this incident.


In another robbery report that was reported on Friday, March 25, Bing Tang Li, 25, owner of Sam Woe Restaurant, was held up at gunpoint and robbed of BZ$650 and an assortment of BTL cards valued at a total of $200, and four bottles of beer valued at a total of $10.00.


Massam and Hill received seven years for the robbery and Massam additionally was sentenced to three years for aggravated assault. A 17-year-old minor was fined $5,000 plus $5.00 cost of court for robbery. The fine should be paid by Wednesday, June 15, or in default he will spend five years in prison.


For the crime of aggravated assault, the minor was fined $2,000 plus $5.00 cost of court, which should be paid by Thursday, June 30, or in default 2 years imprisonment.


For possession of an imitation firearm with criminal intent, the minor was fined $1,000 plus $5.00 cost of court, to be paid by Friday, July 15, or if he defaults, he will serve a year in prison.


All sentences are to run consecutively.


Magistrate Emerita Ascoli presided over the arraignment, while Sergeant Eugene Phillips conducted the prosecution.
