GeneralFreak road accident injures 7
Tonight, the Perez Family of South End Corozal is homeless after a tow-head truck, driven at the time by Elvin Conorquie, 32, and a Mitsubishi pick-up truck, driven at the time by, Hilario Alcoser, 45, collided with each other.

The freak accident, which occurred sometime around 9:00 Tuesday night, resulted in the tow-head crashing into the home of Isidro Perez.

Perez, his wife, Alma and their three children, Michelle, Celina and Leandro Isidro, were in the house at the time and were injured.

Reports are that at about 9:00 p.m., when police visited Miles 82 and 83, they saw the tow-head truck off the left hand side of the road with its front portion inside a cement house. On the right hand shoulder of the road they saw a white Mitsubishi pick-up, with its left front portion extensively damaged.

Their investigation into the accident revealed that Conorquie, a resident of 6th Avenue, Corozal Town, was driving the tow-head truck on the Northern Highway heading from the direction of Orange Walk towards Corozal, when upon reaching between Miles 82 and 83, he collided with the pick-up, which was traveling in the opposite direction.

A total of 7 persons was injured at the end of the collision, and they were treated at the Northern Regional Hospital.

Traveling in the Mitsubishi with Alcoser, who suffered injuries to his left hand, were Ismael Alcoser 43, who was cut on the forehead and nose; Jasmine Alcoser, 5, unhurt; and Vidalina Alcoser, 42, who complained of pain to her face and neck.

Injured in the Perez home were the owner, Isidro Perez 33, who suffered a large cut wound on his upper lip and left side of face; his daughter, Michelle Perez 10, who suffered abrasions on the left foot; his daughter, Celina Perez, 11, who complained of pain to her body; and his son, Leandro Perez 6, who suffered abrasions on the right side of the body.

Alcoser is listed in a serious but stable condition, while the others were treated and released.

Police continue their investigation into the accident, but have levied no charges against any of the drivers.

They have so far taken alcohol samples from both drivers to determine whether they were under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, police say they may be charging someone for damage to property for the destroyed home.

According to Isidro, when the tow-head suddenly crashed into the home, his daughter, Michelle, was sleeping in her bed. The force of the crash sent the truck slamming into her room.

The impact broke down the concrete wall separating the room from the rest of the house.

Isidro says his children’s only wish for Christmas is for their home to be back the way it was before.
