COROZAL, Wed. Sept. 7, 2022
On Tuesday, September 6, police found guns and ammunition at two separate locations—one in the Corozal District and the other in St. Matthews Village, Cayo.
In Corozal, officers discovered (30) 5.56 live rounds of ammunition (which are commonly used in military-grade firearms such as the Heckler & Koch 416 and the M249 Squad automatic rifle) in a cane field.
Also, while in St. Matthews Village, police who had been pursuing a black Chevy Equinox near a checkpoint in the vicinity of Mile 35 on the George Price Highway, recovered an AK-47 assault rifle and a 9mm Glock pistol which were tossed through a window of that vehicle.
The guns and ammunition were labeled as found property.
