GeneralJosue Amador, 25, charged with Corporal Alfonso Guy’s murder

BELIZE CITY, Mon. Jan. 14, 2019– Josue Danilo Villatoro Amador, 25, a naturalized Belizean originally from Honduras, was charged with the murder of 51-year-old Corporal Alfonso Guy when he appeared today before Magistrate Tricia Anderson.

No plea was taken from him because the offence is indictable. Neither could the court offer him bail because of the nature of the offence. He was remanded into custody until March 16.

The murder occurred around 12:30 a.m. on January 11. According to reports, Guy was in a room in his apartment in the San Juan area of San Pedro Town with his friend, Amador, and Amador reportedly was playing with Guy’s police-issued 9 millimeter pistol when he pulled the trigger and the gun went off.

Guy was shot in his mid-section. He was taken to the San Pedro Polyclinic where he succumbed to his injury around 2:30 a.m. on the same day.

Police arrested and charged Amador after they viewed footage from surveillance cameras and recorded statements. Amador worked as a food and beverage vendor at Captain Morgan Restaurant.
