GeneralLeon Walford, 20, charged with robbery and harm

He has been remanded to the Hattieville Prison until July 12.

Amandala today spoke with the robbery victim, Lucelia Marin, this morning by telephone. She told us that she is still recovering from the injuries she sustained over a week ago from her attacker.

Lucelia said that she had gone to make a purchase from Heng Loon, a Chinese shop at the corner of Tigris and Basra Streets, and when she was leaving to go across the street to where her vehicle was parked, she was slowly approached by a male person.

Lucelia recalled that she saw when the youth came riding towards her on a bicycle. He put it on the ground and then slowly approached her.

They met eye to eye, she recalled, and unexpectedly, he grabbed at her neck, aiming for her gold chain, but she said she had managed to grab it first.

She said that they struggled and fought for about three minutes, and no one assisted her. Then she realized that her attacker had a knife in his hand.

Fearing for her life, she flung the chain to the ground and her attacker ran towards it. He picked it up and fled on a bicycle, she recalled. Then, someone came to her aid.

Marin has been on bed rest for over a week, as she said her attacker had hit her many times on the face and hands. Even when she walks she is in pain, she said.

She is however, happy that her attacker, who is well known by police, has been caught, and she said she plans to pursue the matter further in court.

According to court information, Walford is ?well known? to police.
