BELIZE CITY, Mon. Feb. 1, 2021– The National Trade Union Congress of Belize (NTUCB) held their 54th annual general meeting virtually on January 30 and 31, 2021, under the theme: “NTUCB: Overcoming the Challenges, Living our Purpose, Realizing Meaningful Reforms.”

At the meeting, elections were held, and six persons joined the membership of the NTUCB board. Luke Martinez was elected to serve as the union’s new president, while Miguel Aguilar was elected as 2nd Vice President; Trisha Perez was elected as education director; and Ella Waight was elected as assistant general secretary. Leona Flowers (trustee) and Phillipa McDonald were also elected to serve with Martinez on the new NTUCB board.

They join returning board members Clifford Martinez, 1st Vice President; Patrick Balan, general secretary; Jorge Mejia, treasurer; Dean Flowers, auditor; Phillip Tate, councilor; Daniel Luna, trustee; and Addy Aguilar, director of gender affairs, in collectively forming the new NTUCB executive team.
