BELIZE CITY, Tues. Sept. 8, 2020– At about 10:30 last night, two persons were shot on Fabers Road while they were sitting in a car. Ricky Miguel, 23, a laborer of Belize City, was shot in the head and chest and died immediately, while his friend, Thalia Westby, was shot in her leg.
She was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where she was admitted in a stable condition, while Miguel’s body was taken to the morgue.
According to reliable reports, two men went to the car from the driver’s side and one of them fired multiple times at Miguel, who was sitting in the driver’s seat. The two men then escaped into a side road.
The motive for this latest murder is not yet known, and no one has yet been arrested in connection with the incident.
On Friday night, just a few days prior to this shooting, there was another incident in which a person in a parked car was shot to death. Edwin Vanegas, 37, a mechanic of Curl Thompson Street, Port Loyola, was shot to death at about 11:30 while in his car on Santa Barbara Street in Lake Independence.
