PAUL OF BELIZE NO! NO! NO! SHOW ME THE BRIEF

FeaturesPAUL OF BELIZE NO! NO! NO! SHOW ME THE BRIEF

NO ONE KNOWS the contents of the brief which Belize’s attorney will present to the ICJ. Our scepticism is therefore justified; for lawyering, as a rule, does not always deliver to a client what is promised.

About nine years ago, appointed by Bishop Dorick Wright to serve on his Education Commission, we entrusted the defence of the Church-State Partnership to lawyers.  The crux of the preservation of this almost two-century successful arrangement was the composition of the Teachers Service Commission to be made up by the appointments of the Minister of Education. If the members would be appointed “with the concurrence” of the churches the partnership would be preserved; if “after consultation” it would be dashed to pieces. The new law said “after consultation.”

This law will have to be amended by a new parliament, because the salvation of our Belizean culture depends on how we defend the understanding of human sexuality in accordance with our cultural values enshrined in our Constitution, rather than to satisfy the paganistic agenda of a First World bent on destroying itself by perverting the beliefs and realities that have made it great.

“Open Borders” sounds like a great progressive freedom to show acceptance and respect to every single human being, no matter what race, creed or behavior. It is a devious, deceptive, devilish trick to plunge the whole world into chaos and catastrophe, for Social Justice which respects the Common Good cannot be operative without the rule of law.

What does what you have said above have to do with our going to the ICJ for a settlement of a Guatemalan claim against our national integrity???

It could have much, too much to do, with our survival as a unique nation in Central America.

Next year America will have Presidential Elections.  A “progressive” Democrat could win advocating Open Borders. One, or two, or three hundred thousand Guatemalans, Hondurans, Salvadorans and Nicaraguans could form a caravan and come to our borders claiming asylum. What would we do when these people register to vote putting up their own candidates?

How quickly we would lose Belize our Jewel!

Instead of opting for an ICJ experience now, perhaps we should place a diplomatic proposal to America: instead of giving foreign aid to Central America, initiate a Central American Peace Plan after the fashion of Europe’s Marshal Plan that turned devastated cities in Germany, France, Italy and Japan into thriving cities that have been competing even against American! That plan must be implemented in such a sanitized fashion to exclude the rapacious paws of politicians, army brass, drug dealers, etc….

No ICJ! Maybe the time is ripe for other plans….
