Romel remembers a Lydia de Ramirez song

LettersRomel remembers a Lydia de Ramirez song

Dear Editor,

“Buenas Tardes Chiquitines Belicenios
Hoy les vengo una vez mas a cantar
Y tambien a recordarles que tienen que estudiar
y ayudar a su mama y a su papa.”

“Good Afternoon my Little Belizeans,
I come here once more; to sing to you
and to remind you that you have to study
and to help your mom and your dad.”

These are the words to a song that Mrs. Lydia de Ramirez wrote and sang and that was popular on Radio Belize when we were kids. I remember her coming to our home in Orange Walk and selling us her record. We didn’t have much money, but she was so nice and the song so beautiful that my mom made the effort and bought it for us.

We appreciated that record for many years and will always remember her inspirational words. Maybe Love FM should find it in its archives and replay it in children’s programs.

We thank the Good Lord for the life of your Ma, Mr. Alfonso C. Ramirez, Sr., J.P.

Regards,
Romel Cuello
