Three prison escapees still on the run

GeneralThree prison escapees still on the run

STANN CREEK DISTRICT, Sat. Nov. 7, 2020– Two of the five remaining prison escapees who have been at large since the October 12 mass escape at the Belize Central Prison were caught in Steadfast Village, Stann Creek District, shortly before 6:00 a.m.  They are Enrique Martinez, convicted of manslaughter, and Carlos Montejo, a convicted robber and alleged co-mastermind of the escape.

Yesterday, police received intelligence that the men were hiding in the hills behind a Steadfast villager’s property and “moved on them” in a pre-dawn operation.  Both men were taken into custody without incident.

Back in 2010, Montejo was one of 4 men charged for “engaging in an illegal fight”, which resulted in his friend, Efrain Ramirez, getting his throat cut.

Of the three men still on the run, two — Michael Faux and Jaroud “Steel Bob” Lamb —are convicted murderers. The other is Erwin Lanza.

Faux was convicted for the 2005 murder of Sydney Bradley on West Canal Street.  Lamb was convicted for a murder that was committed during a 2013 robbery of Belmopan’s La Choza Bar.  Lanza was serving two years in jail after he and a relative were found in possession of a marijuana plant and an illegal firearm.
