Two American fugitives caught and extradited within two days

InternationalTwo American fugitives caught and extradited within two days
The Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) Branch of the Belize Police Department had their hands tied this weekend with trying to apprehend American fugitives, Fred Donald Hornby, age 36, a resident of #4137 Jasmine Street in Belize City and Dusty Chandler, 34, a resident of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. The men were wanted in connection with separate cases in the United States, but by today, had both been taken to court to face the charges brought against them.

Police said that both men were apprehended on the “strength of an arrest warrant”.

Chandler, who was escorted out of Belize earlier today after being apprehended by San Pedro Police and CIU sometime after 10:30 this morning, is reportedly wanted in the US on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intention to deliver, and also for possession of drugs and firearms.

The other person, Hornby, is no stranger to Belizeans, as he is the owner of the popular “Belizean Fry Chicken” which he operates from his residential address. He had arrived in Belize almost five years ago, in 2002, said a police report. It added that Hornby is wanted in the US for sale of cocaine and had absconded in violation of the conditions of release on bond.

He was being apprehended by CIU police on Sunday morning, April 8, shortly after 7:00, said police. He has since been escorted to the US by Belizean cops.
