According to police, a 26-year-old Guatemalan domestic of Orange Walk Town reported to them that on Saturday, when she left a bar and was standing at the corner of Baker?s Street and Main Street, she was approached by a car, which was driven at the time by one of her common-law husband?s friends. The woman said that her husband was also in the car, so she got into the vehicle and sat in the back passenger seat. Police say the woman told them that the car was driven to a feeder road near Trial Farm Village, Orange Walk District. The woman claimed that her husband told her that he had already collected US$10.00 for her to have sex with his friend. The woman alleged that when she refused, her husband beat her and held her down, while the person who had been driving raped her. Police have detained the woman?s common-law husband, who is being questioned in connection with this incident.
