Belize City, Wed. Sept. 15, 2021– James Wilfred Gordon, also known as Willie Gordon, was murdered tonight on the northside of Belize City. Willie Gordon, the famed former Kremandala Raiders basketball player, was killed in a yard on Meighan Avenue, Belize City, just before 7:00 p.m.

When police arrived on the scene, they saw several gunshot wounds on Gordon’s apparently lifeless body. They began canvassing the area and launched an investigation into the shooting. Based on information they gathered, the police believe that 49-year-old Gordon had visited the Meighan Avenue address to collect money from someone indebted to him. The officers viewed surveillance footage of the area in which the shooting occurred, and in that footage two men could be seen approaching on bicycles, and one of them fired shots in Gordon’s direction.

Gordon was hit several times, and following the shooting, the unidentified gunmen fled. The police are still not sure of the motive for the shooting and do not believe that Gordon, who had no known gang affiliation, was the intended target. No money was found on Gordon’s body. The police are unsure if he was robbed following the shooting.
