Woman 7 months pregnant stabbed in belly and loses baby

GeneralWoman 7 months pregnant stabbed in belly and loses baby
Police confirm early reports that a pregnant woman, in her third trimester, was stabbed in the belly by her boyfriend, subsequently causing the death of the unborn baby girl.

The woman, 28, is said to have been at her home on Ross Neal Pen Road, sometime late last night, in the company of a 70-year-old man, when her 21-year-old boyfriend apparently stormed into the home and inflicted the fatal stab wound.

Police told us that apparently, the victim, who reportedly is separated from her boyfriend, was in bed with the 70-year-old man when the 21-year-old stormed in.

Details are still sketchy, due to the ongoing investigations, but to Amandala’s knowledge, the investigation is being led by the Domestic Violence Unit.

“She was stabbed in the stomach by her [jealous] boyfriend, and she was rushed to the hospital [Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital], and the doctor had to perform an emergency operation, but the fetus didn’t make it,” said the police.

A fetus, at month 7, is said to be at least 3 pounds and 16 inches, depending on nutrition and health factors. Other distinct features on a fetus at this month include hair on the head, eyebrows, eyelashes, eyes are no longer fused shut, fingernails, the skin is pink, the lungs begin to function and it has a good chance of survival outside the uterus.

When Amandala went to the KHMH for an update on her condition, we were told by a member of the hospital staff that, “There is no one in here by that name.”

However, other sources told us that the woman was in the hospital, but in a critical state at this time.

Police continue to investigate the incident, and say that they will release the necessary information when all details are clarified.
