ROARING CREEK, Cayo District, Mon. Mar. 2, 2020– An 18-year-old has been detained pending the conclusion of an investigation of indecent assault of a female minor after the mother of a 10-year-old girl found him coming out of her daughter’s room and saw her daughter sleeping, with her blanket drawn away, her nightgown lifted and her underpants drawn down.

The young man told the mother that he went into the room to look for marijuana, and then escaped, but police found him and arrested him.

The incident occurred at about 7:30 Saturday morning. The 10-year-old’s mother told Roaring Creek police that on Saturday morning she left her daughter sleeping in her room, and went to the nearby store and on her return, she saw a man, whom she knows, coming out of her daughter’s room, and her daughter’s garments were out of place.

ACP Joseph Myvett said that the girl was examined to see if she was sexually assaulted, and that they are awaiting the result of that examination. He said that the girl was sleeping and could not say whether the young man assaulted her.
