2 Guatemalans, 1 Belizean escape from WYF at Kolbe

Headline2 Guatemalans, 1 Belizean escape from WYF at Kolbe

Belize Central Prison officials are presently investigating the circumstances surrounding the escape of three inmates from the Wagner’s Youth Facility who seized the opportunity to slip away from the juvenile facility located inside the Kolbe Foundation compound at around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Reports are that the prisoners capitalized on the fact that the guards were somewhat distracted since there is usually a shift change at the same time, and made good their escape into the night.

They have been identified as Wilmar Guzman, 16, who is from San Juan Village in the Stann Creek Valley area and is serving a 6-year prison sentence for theft; Roque Teul, 17, a Guatemalan, serving a 5-year sentence for an unlicensed firearm; and Hector Garcia ,17, also a Guatemalan, who was incarcerated for illegal entry and was actually scheduled to be deported back to his home country today, Monday.

The escapees are said to be heading toward the Western border and all motorists travelling the George Price Highway are advised to be on the lookout for these persons, as they are considered dangerous.

Anyone having information on the whereabouts of any of the escaped prisoners is asked to call 610-0649/610-0305, or the nearest police station.
