Raul and Laura Peña of San Andres, Corozal, the parents of a baby, 20 days old, are mourning the death of their baby, who died in their home at about 2:00 Saturday morning.
Laura Peña reported that she got up to feed the baby and found her not moving. The parents quickly rushed the baby to the Corozal Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The baby was taken to the morgue, where she awaits a post-mortem to certify the cause of the sudden death.
Police said that the baby was premature and unregistered.
Foul play is not suspected, and the death has been declared a “sudden death.”
