The new Belize Bank Bulldogs U-23 team continued on their regular season tour this past weekend in the 2012 BDBA U-23 Championship by knocking-off Cellular World by the final score of 66-59 on their way to their third win in four outings this season. The game was tightly contested for the first three quarters, with the Bulldogs enjoying the slim 49-46 lead at the conclusion of quarter three. However, in the final quarter, the Bulldogs were able to pull away behind a break-out game from Terrique “StreakYouth” Gabb 25 pts 3 rebs 3 asst. Gabb hit 8 of 18 from the floor for a 44% clip, while making 7 of his 11 attempts at the charity strips. Teammate and Belize’s top prospect, Brian White had a monster game 19 pts 18 rebs 4 asst on 8 of 18 shooting from the field and 3 of 6 from the free throw. The Dangriga duo known as “MacRay” (Macario Augustine and Ray Cruz) combined for 10 pts 22 rebs and 5 blocks, while perennial star Lincey Lopez had a sub-par game, totaling 4 pts 3 rebs 2 asst. Meanwhile, for Cellular World it was Justin Wade with 22 pts 9 rebs 1 asst, followed by Marvin Skeet with 16 pts 11 rebs. As a team, the Bulldogs shot 38% from the field to 30% from their opponents, while out-rebounding them 58-45. They also dominated in the paint, scoring 46 of their 66 points inside, while maintaining the edge in fast break points, 20-18.

The Bulldogs play their last regular season game tomorrow, as they battle Truckers in a matinee event at 5:00 p.m. at Birds Isle.
