Catching up with Over-40 football

SportsCatching up with Over-40 football

BELIZE CITY, Mon. June 4, 2018– We don’t have the scoring details for recent games, but here is catching up on some scores in the National Over-40 Football Tournament since our last report just over a week ago.

The Saturday games for May 26 were reportedly cancelled due to referee unavailability, but it appears that one game was still played out at San Pedro, where the San Pedro Veterans bombed Medina’s House of Jewelry (Lake) by 6 goals to 1.

In games on Sunday, May 27, Mango Creek Veterans shut out San Ignacio Santels, 5-0; Benque Veterans and Esperanza Warriors drew, 2-2; Belmopan Veterans clipped Dangriga New Site Erei, 1-nil; and Kulture Yabra got the 2-0 win over Belmopan Bandits.

Then in games this past Sunday, June 3, official reports have San Ignacio Santels drawing, 2-2, with Dangriga New Site Erei; Benque Veterans dropped Belmopan Veterans, 3-1; and Medina’s House of Jewelry (Lake) won, 4-2, over BDF Veterans. Our unofficial sources say Kulture Yabra and San Pedro Veterans drew, 1-1, out at the island on Saturday; and Belmopan Bandits dropped Plaza Milpros, 3-0. No word yet on the Mango Creek Veterans vs Esperanza Warriors clash on Sunday in Esperanza.

We understand that the Match Commissioners are slipping down on their job in forwarding the game results; and we also understand that they are getting paid by the FFB. Come on, people!
