Cricket Corner – A gentleman’s game; play it as gentlemen.

BELIZE CITY, Thurs. Apr. 6, 2017–Hello, cricket players, fans and supporters! Before getting into specifics of the game, I send my sincere condolences to the Kerr family, Brilliant Cricket Club and the villagers of Crooked Tree, on the sad passing of their loved one, Hulbert Kerr. May his soul, find peaceful rest.

Now, with cricket. Under the auspices of the Belize National Cricket Association, the Harrison Parks 2017 Competition continues this weekend. Thanks to our kind sponsor, Bowen and Bowen. The following games are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday:

On Saturday – Easy Does It vs Summer Fever at Landing; Excellence vs Bright Star at Double Head; Brilliant vs Suga Boys at Carmelita; Wicked 11 vs Uprising at Flowers Bank.

On Sunday – Berlan vs Sunrise at Lords Bank. Western Eagles rest.

There will be some tryouts, starting on Sunday in Landing at 9:00 in the morning. These tryouts are for choosing teams to represent the country abroad later this year. They are for U-17, U-19 and Senior.

Have a fun-filled cricket weekend. My most mentioned statement to all: Whether you are on or off the field of play, and you are a part of a team, please show respect to your fellow men.

With that said, I wish the best for all teams.

The second half starts, so games will be more exciting. Come out and cheer for your team of choice.
